About the museum
The story of Louvre Abu Dhabi
Louvre Abu Dhabi opened in 2017 on Saadiyat Island, the result of an agreement between the United Arab Emirates and France. Jean Nouvel's building sits beneath a vast perforated dome that filters the desert sun into a 'rain of light'.
Its galleries tell a single story of human creativity across civilisations, mixing its own collection with loans from leading French museums.
The collection
Louvre Abu Dhabi presents a 'universal museum' in which objects from different cultures are shown side by side by theme and period, from prehistoric figures to contemporary art.
Its own collection includes paintings by Gauguin, Manet, Mondrian and Magritte, alongside loans from French museums such as the Louvre, the Musée d'Orsay and the Centre Pompidou.
At ArtLogia you can order 5 of its paintings as hand-painted reproductions, by 5 artists led by Gustave Caillebotte, Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Georges de La Tour.

The building
Jean Nouvel designed the museum as a 'museum city' of white buildings beneath a steel dome 180 metres wide, made of almost 8,000 metal stars in layers. The light filtering through it is known as the 'rain of light'.
